Theory and Hazard Perception Test
In order to take a practical driving test you must have passed both the DSA Theory and Hazard Perception Test.
Theory Test
A touch-screen multiple-choice test on your knowledge and understanding of the Highway Code.
You must obtain a score of 43 or more out of 50 questions in order to pass.
The duration of this test is approximately one hour.
Hazard Perception Test
You will observe a number of video clips showing everyday hazards which can occur whilst driving on the roads today. The object of this test is for you to recognise any hazard or developing hazard as soon as it becomes apparent. This is done by clicking an electronic mouse linked up to the video monitor.
You must obtain a score of 44 out of 75 in order to pass this test.
You must obtain a pass mark in both the above tests before applying for your Practical Driving Test.
Drives Right will loan you the official Driving Standards Agency DVD and CD Rom to assist you in your preparation for the above tests.
Please note: When learning to drive it is essential that you obtain a copy of the Highway Code at your earliest opportunity so that you can learn and apply the Code to your practical lessons.
